Books, documents and antique prints up for auction in Bogotá

23 Jan 2024

This is what El Nuevo Siglo has to say about us:

An exclusive auction features historical treasures such as an 1827 handwritten letter by Simón Bolívar and the first edition of "La Hojarasca" by Gabriel García Márquez. The catalog includes a rare work by José Celestino Mutis on quinine and 17th-century colonial chronicles of the New Kingdom of Granada. Also featured are antique geographic maps by Humboldt and signed first editions by authors like Fernando González and Borges. The exhibition allows the public to access documents that are nearly impossible to find and usually belong to private libraries. This event highlights how private collecting acts as a fundamental ally in preserving the national historical heritage.
